How to make Star Wars Costumes

How to make Star Wars Costumes
Fans of this movie always want to know how to make Star Wars Halloween costumes when the  day gets close.  Most of the character’s costumes are suitable for do it yourself costume makers, but some, like the evil prince Darth Vader are a bit more difficult.  Here are some suggestions to help you create some easy deluxe Star Wars costumes.

Princess Leia

This is probably one of the easiest Star Wars Halloween costumes to make.  All you really need for the outfit is a long white dress or robe and white flat shoes or slippers. Be sure to add a wide white belt with a little bit of silver trim as well. Her signature piece is of course the fancy side braid hair buns.  You can do this with your own hair if it’s long.  If it’s not, you can cover a pair of ear muffs with hair form an old wig or with yarn.

Han Solo
Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford sported a very simple look.  All you need are black pants and boots, a long sleeve white shirt and a short cut black vest.  The trick to making this outfit into Han Solo is the black leg holster and space gun and a black belt with shiny space buckle.

Star Wars Jedi Costumes
Star Wars Jedi costumes are fairly simple to create.  Find an oversize beige or khaki long sleeve shirt.  Wear it over slightly darker pyjama or track pants tucked into high black boots.  Cinch your top at the waist with a wide belt.  Attach your star Wars light sabre to your belt with some kind of hook and you’re good to go.  The finishing touch should be a long, brown hooded robe worn over top of the tunic and pants.

Yoda Star Wars Costumes

Kids especially love to be this wise old green fellow.  This Yoda Star Wars costumes outfits are pretty easy…just use baggy brown shirt and pants. Use some face paint to make your face green and wrinkled. Add a green bathing or skull cap and create some Yoda ears out of cardboard and attach them to the cap.

These are just ideas you can use for inspiration.  Once you get started, you’re sure to find your own creativity and imagination taking over.  Be sure to always search out Star Wars costume patterns and photos to guide you as you learn how to make star wars costumes.
